A brief history of the Redlegs
The Freeling Football Club was established around 1890, making it one of the older football clubs in South Australia.
Freeling was a founding club of the Barossa & Light Football Association in the early 1900s and was active in the early seasons of the competition.
After restructuring of local leagues, Freeling joined the modern Barossa Light & Gawler Football Association in 1987 when the BLGFA was formed.
Join us at Freeling
Like many country clubs, Freeling FC is more than a football club. We are a community hub fostering local sport, volunteering, and regional pride. Our community is built on genuine care, encouragement and a shared belief in helping every young player grow with confidence as they prepare for senior football. We welcome everyone, no matter their background or experience, and we take pride in creating an environment where people feel they truly belong.
Together with the Freeling Netball Club, we’re renowned for our vibrant social gatherings. This is where friendships are formed, families connect, and the spirit of the club shines just as brightly off the field as it does on it. Most importantly, at Freeling Football Club no player is ever left on the sideline. Every child gets the chance to learn, play, and be part of the team – because that’s what community country football does.
The Freeling Football Club aims to promote, deliver and create an environment for success both on and off the field in a respectful, inclusive country family environment.
Our mission statement is underpinned by our core values: Team, Club & Community
